About Us

Chris and Anne Gabriel opened Nature’s Nibbles out of their house in Arlington, Virginia in 2005, with the belief that pets are part of the family, and the food we give them should reflect this special relationship. Originally, it was an online delivery service. Over margaritas at Taqueria Poblano, they decided to open their brick and mortar store in Del Ray in 2006, and have been in business advising the community on pet nutrition and health ever since.

In 2018, Anne was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, and in the following year underwent treatment. During that time, Anne and Chris decided to make some small, but impactful changes in their lifestyle, incorporating more organic and natural foods and supplements into their health regimens, and switching to all natural, non-toxic beauty and body products. As parents of two young boys, Anne and Chris wanted to be sure that the products they use everyday in and on their bodies were not causing any undue harm to the family.

During Anne’s treatment, Chris discovered an ideal retail location in the Hollin Hall shopping center. Wanting to expand their outreach to more friends, family and neighbors, they decided to open up a second Nature’s Nibbles store – this time, not just with pets in mind. Their goal with this new location is to provide healthy choices for their community that benefit individuals, animals, and the planet. Nature’s Nibbles Hollin Hall will carry a number of high quality, non-toxic, and eco-friendly brands for humans, too! With a focus on sustainability – reducing, reusing, and recycling – Anne and Chris want to make it easier for you to play your part in protecting the planet and all its inhabitants.

In 2022, Nature's Nibbles decided to move the Del Ray store online. The Del Ray community supported the store for 16 years before the change! The Hollin Hall location remains open for for local delivery or pickup for premium pet food, locally sourced grocery, and gift items.
